At TEDxYaba, we are keen on fostering conversations that engender change. For every event, our goal is to handpick people who have demonstrated remarkable leadership in their professional fields and have them lead igniting conversations.

There is nothing trivial about speaking at a TEDx event. It is one of the biggest platforms for sharing high-quality, world-shaping ideas. At TEDxYaba, we’re constantly trying to ensure our platform is graced by the best ideas. This is why the team of organisers put in a lot of work to ensure that the process of choosing speakers is open, thorough and credible.

Depending on the theme of the event, shortlisted speakers are adjudged through an aggregation of publicly available information about their credibility as leaders and the level of impact they have had in their sphere.

Scouting for the shortlist

As soon as the theme of an upcoming event is decided on, our Speaker Selection Team gets right to work. They spend time researching and populating a list of remarkable and relevant innovators to create a sufficiently robust list, from which the final speakers are chosen.

The shortlist is decided through a number of factors including but not restricted to:

  1. The quality of their ideas.
  2. Their demonstrated level of impact and influence in their field.
  3. Availability of the speaker for the proposed event dates.

Selected speakers are contacted to confirm their availability, and accept the invitation to speak. Confirmed speakers receive an info pack that guide them in preparing their speech while working closely with them to ensure it aligns with TEDx global event guidelines.

TEDxYaba speaker selection process is guided by certain restrictions in order to maintain the credibility and the quality of the ideas at our events. We do not receive payment or pay speakers to speak at an event, nor do we call for applications from interested speakers. Also, our event organisers, sponsors and volunteers are not allowed to speak at an event.
