All about TwitchCon

Of all the biggest conventions of the year, TwitchCon is definitely one of the most popular. The online game streaming platform, Twitch, his risen to popularity over the past few years with the increase of pc gaming as opposed to console, and also streaming game play online. According to DMR, Twitch had over 100 million monthly unique users in June of 2016 and 2.1 million broadcasters who use Twitch to stream their game play to followers. Those number continue to increase monthly.

But it’s not just the gaming that bring viewers to Twitch. Yes, people are able to stream their game play but more people watch streams that people who stream. People like watching their favorite gamers play video games live and interact with them. During Twitch streams, viewers are not only able to see the live game play but they can also see the streamer’s face they can chat with each other and with the streamer. Because of the demand for video game streaming, Twitch decided to make a convention just for those fans called TwitchCon.

This year’s TwitchCon took place the weekend of September 30 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. TwitchCon gives streamers a chance to interact in person with their fans. It also comes with several panels that gives rising streamers incite as to how to grow their fan base. There are exciting stage shows and live competitions, exclusive Twitch merchandise, networking opportunities with influential public figures in the gaming industry, an esports viewing lounge, an indie district for indie content, and much more. There was even a party at Petco Park! Amazon Game Studios, Truth, and XBox were the presenting exhibitors at TwitchCon 2016. Sponsored by over 100 exhibitors, TwicthCon is rapidly growing since is maiden voyage in 2015. Tickets can be pricey, but it’s definitely worth it. And if you are not able to attend, you can always catch clips of the madness on Twitch.tv.
