For the last couple of months slot-in VR is going down. I’ve been asked on few different channels what happens with VR. Don’t worry. VR is not going to die. It just turns out the usability of slot-in mobile VR is not that great, but there is a clear mobile successor — Oculus. If you want to learn more about the development for the next generation mobile VR devices, I would like to invite you to my talk “VR QuickStart with Unity 3D” at DevReach Sofia 2019, 22 October.

Samsung Galaxy Note10 will not support Gear VR headset

Oculus and Samsung Gear VR had a partnership pushing forward the VR for some time. But Samsung somewhat silently discontinued investment in slot-in VR shortly after the products like Oculus GO and Oculus Quest were announced.

Oculus Mobile

Oculus now ship two devices: Oculus GO and Oculus Quest. They are mobile, their hardware spec is very close to that of a mobile phone. However they do not waste the battery of your phone. And are based on Android as well.

According to Mark Zuckerberg Quest sales go:

“as fast as we can make them”

Oculus also provides a VR dedicated app store and delivers high quality content.

Mobile VR will be at DevReach 2019
