Even if you are able to do well for Emaths, Amaths can be a totally different ball game altogether so it is alright if you find it challenging. To help you, we have compiled a few ways to do better for the subject!
- Writing down the explanations to questions down in words
- Writing out the explanation to questions in words ensures that you understand the concept logically rather than using the number to explain it. Using this tactic makes you reason with yourself which makes you understand the concept better, and if a tricky question comes up in exams you can tackle it better as you understand the concept better than someone who just memorized the steps. Through this you can identify any misconceptions and fix them by consulting your teacher
2. Doing practice questions
- Amath is a subject which requires a lot of practise. The more you practise, the more familiar you are with each topic. You also get exposed to many different questions which makes you more prepared for your exams. Start practising with your textbook, be familiar with the basic concepts. then move on to your topical tys, start with the topics you are weaker in. While you are doing your tys, you will notice certain concepts are repeated each year, write down these question and its steps inside a notebook to revise later
- Time management is key in every exam. Before the paper plan how you are going to tackle it. Start with questions you are confident in e.g. partial fractions , drawing trigo graph, surds etc. these questions give high marks for low effort. Then proceed on to harder questions that require more time. Go into the exam hall with a game plan in mind, use that 2h 15 min to the best of your abilities! Lastly, always remember to check your paper until the very last minute.
