It Takes Discipline To Live A Rich, Purpose-Driven Life
As I write this, I am taking a group of people through the EMPOWERED TO WIN bootcamp and also working with more than the usual number of private clients and something that I know more and more to be true is that most people do not understand the level of discipline required to live a rich, fulfilling life.
Everyone wants the money and the freedom of doing work that you love, with people you love, when you want to do it but most people think that it will just drop into their laps, if they wish, hope and plead with the heavens long enough.
Needless to say, it takes more than that!
And before I end up sounding like some kind of perfect individual, let me just tell you right now, that I have to continually tell myself this. CONTINUALLY because every so often, I catch myself waiting for some external magic bullet to come find me. I shoot out a prayer at the heavens expecting some kind of miracle while sitting on my awesome arse giving into fear…
And no, it never happens.
I wish…
But no.
Part of the joy of getting the rich, fulfilled life is the person you become as you undertake the disciplines necessary to get the life. No, it does not feel like joy in the moment as you attempt to detach yourself from old ways of thinking, acting, being but when you reach that place of being a new creation, it is amazing!
Man, some of these principles of becoming new, I have been reading in my bible since I was about 6 or 7 and hearing them from the pulpit and yet, it took me another 20 years or so before I finally saw that just because something was my birthright did not mean, I did not have to work for it.
Passivity and a refusal to be disciplined comes at a price.
The price is that you get a life you do not much like and then when you finally wake up to the fact that you do not much like it, you realise you now have to start the daily, sometimes hourly (or half hourly or every 5 minutes!) work of reinventing yourself and there is a heckuva lot of reconditioning to do!
You have boxed yourself into a rut that you do not like but everyone around you wants you to remain the same and you are addicted to being this person. LITERALLY ADDICTED and so every time you try to become the real you, it feels like you are going against your very nature, it feels like going cold turkey on a heroin addiction, it feels like you are being torn apart and you are not sure whether it is even possible to get to the other side.
And most people at this point, stay stuck in their life, telling themselves that it is impossible to change and so, they get what they get!
But for us, the mavericks, we know it is possible to change and in fact, it is simple to change but it is not easy.
And so we buckle down and we begin.
Every day, we work on our internal clarity and take external action.
Internal clarity by growing in self-awareness and seeing the behaviours and beliefs that do not get us where we want to go and choosing to deliberately change them.
Choosing hourly, if necessary, to catch our thinking and acting and believing and notice where it comes from — Is it a place of lack and fear? Or am I acting from love, joy, abundance, purpose?
And then choosing who we be.
External action by simply communicating daily with our audience, growing that audience and daily offering something for sale. We do this whatever we feel like because we are committed to the result.
And as we stay consistent in doing this, life changes…
Maybe just by little steps at a time but it changes and WE CHANGE!
We feel more bold, more confident and it gets easier to choose who we be on a daily basis.
But it starts with the discipline.
The decision to deliberately design life.
The decision to reinvent ourselves to something that feels more aligned with our true purpose…
The decision to remember that we are created in the image of all-powerful, all-knowing Spirit and so all things are possible ad we are not alone in this.
The decision to believe that we can create a life, making money and impacting people while doing only what we love.
The decision to challenge any underlying belief that it is impossible.
We refuse to back down and be like ‘norms’
We are born for more and we will get it in this lifetime!
