Microscopic Dream

It’s your day off, you've finally pulled yourself out of bed and shuffle into the kitchen in need of coffee. You don’t take in your surroundings until the first glorious sip of caffeine. There’s a to-do list floating around your head, you give yourself a half-hearted pep talk and then finally look out the window.
Shit. Rain. Not just any rain though it’s practically horizontal. The wind thrashes it against the window and for a long second you think it may break the glass. An argument erupts in your brain as you tell yourself you’re not going out in that. But you've got stuff to do most of which requires leaving the house. No, you think, I’ll drown out there. But food won’t but itself. You sigh and tell yourself you’ll make a decision after you’re dressed because logically no one can make sound choices in pyjamas.
Showered and dressed, back in the kitchen for your second hit of caffeine. You don’t need to look when making coffee as your muscle memory kicks in while you glare at the rain. You search your mind trying to remember if you own an umbrella, then realise it would be pointless as one of your gardens chairs takes flight. The Great British weather, it was sunny yesterday when you were at work, typical.
Well that settles it then. Hugging hot beverages and watching daytime telly are the events of the day. Maybe you’ll be adventurous and put Netflix on, browse the trendy indie films before putting on your usual comfort film. It’ll be a glorified lazy day justified by you reminding yourself that’s how days off should be. We all work too hard for too little, enjoy those rainy days to yourself in your own little bubble like a microscopic dream come true.
