Fans of the Telos blockchain, like those of any other crypto platform, tend to be passionate about its technical features, the importance of decentralization in general, and similar high-level principles. We’re out to change the world, after all.

That said, if the goal is to drive adoption among newcomers, it’s vital to show, not just tell, why Telos is so awesome. One of the best ways to do that is highlighting cool decentralized apps (or “dapps”) that people can use on their phones or laptops right now, all running on the Telos chain.

Here are six such examples, with links so you can check them out yourself. Each of these dapps leverages the Telos network’s fast transactions, governance structure, and other features in its own truly unique way:

  • Sesacash: A platform for micro-payments in Africa, including free transfers if a transaction is conducted entirely within the seasacash network. At a time when many early-stage blockchain projects, like Facebook’s proposed Libra cryptocurrency, aspire to serve the “global unbanked,” sesacash is already up and running, making actual headway in that important work.
  • SEEDS: Currently in beta release, SEEDS aims to create a new financial ecosystem that incentivizes people and organizations to behave in more just, environment-friendly ways. Structured as a global co-op, SEEDS has its own stablecoin. A portion of all transactions go back to the co-op to help grow the project. The community also votes on grantmaking to projects that support the co-op’s values.
  • Dmail: A native, secure messaging app for Telos applications, launched in October. This one solves a major problem that other blockchain networks have struggled with — how to effectively message users without relying on the cumbersome “memo” field on a signed transaction. Dmail provides a much friendlier messaging interface for Telos dapps, while also protecting against spam and privacy violations.
  • Zeptagram: For decades, fairly compensating musicians for their work has been a controversial issue on the internet. Zeptagram is using blockchain (with a dash of artificial intelligence as well) to tackle the problem, allowing for Nasdaq-like trading of music rights.
  • Telos Planet: A Minecraft-like game running on the Telos blockchain. As you build your world, you can earn Telos tokens through a daily payout mechanism in the game.
  • Drakos Keep: Another great Telos-powered game, currently in development, with an expected release in the first quarter of 2020. In this one, you breed, train, and do battle with your own dragon.

Of course, this is just a sampling of the apps that have launched since the Telos mainnet went live in December 2018. We’ll probably return to the topic of dapps in the future as more come online, since they’re such an important part of the community. So please stay tuned!
