How To Mint Your First Nft On AreaX NFT
The meteoric rise of NFTs almost feels like a phenomenon that occurred overnight when in fact, these immutable digital assets have been around since 2017. Since then, NFTs have attracted millions of users that have generated billions of dollars in revenue — leaving the creators of some collections very happy indeed.
The utility of NFTs from a creator’s standpoint is easy to appreciate. They serve as far more than cartoon jpegs — a criticism commonly heard from naysayers (who needs ‘em!?). NFTs have allowed artists to cement the authenticity of their designs and protect them from unauthorized replication — a common pitfall of the digital art world. So if you’re a digital artist with an “NFT itch” that needs scratching, you’ve come to the right place!
In this article, we’ll take you through some easy-to-follow steps to enable you to mint your very own NFT on the AREAX NFT Platform. Ready? Let’s start minting!
Getting Started
Go to the AreaX website and sign in with your Metamask wallet. Upon doing so, click the “Create” tab and select “Create NFT” on the drop-down menu.
The next screen will require you to fill out all of the information you would like included in your NFT’s metadata. You’ll also be asked to enter your Asset URL. This refers to the link where your art is stored or hosted. For this example, we’ll use Xstorage.cloud as our Asset URL
As you’ll see in the image below, we’ve filled in some of the basic information for the NFT we’re minting. This includes the title (or name) of the NFT, a unique description, an external link, and rarity. However, you can also add other characteristics and attributes such as properties, levels, and stats. You may also notice a space for the collection name. Leave that for now as we will cover the collection feature later in the article.
Once you’ve finished entering the info, you’re ready to move on to the next step, which is minting your NFT! Click the “Create NFT” button and follow the next steps.
A window will pop up in your Metamask wallet, asking you to confirm the meeting fee. Before doing so, feel free to take a second to appreciate the unbelievably low cost of minting on Telos (wink). Once that’s done, click “confirm” to complete the transaction.
Congratulations! You’ve just minted your first NFT on AreaX — but don’t pop the champagne bottles just yet! We now have to assign your NFT to a collection. This will enable you to list and sell your design on the AreaX marketplace. First, go to the top navigation bar to locate your profile, as seen in the image below-left. You can click on “My Items” to see your newly minted NFT (image below-middle). Click on it to open and edit the missing collection details. Start by clicking where it says “new collection,” as seen in the image below-right.
Another window will then pop up. Do you see that pencil icon on the left? You guessed it — click away!
After clicking the pencil icon, you’ll be taken to a new page and asked to fill in specific information about the NFT collection. Once the information is complete, click the blue “edit collection” to move on to the next step.
Now that you’ve entered the information click the blue “buy URL” button to move on to the next step. You’ll be notified if the URL is taken or not, as seen in the green text in the image below. You’ll then be asked to confirm the price of the transaction first on the AreaX platform and then on in your Metamask wallet. After confirming, you can click the blue “Edit collection” button to put your NFT up for sale!
You’re almost at the Finish line! Now that your collection is updated, return back to the description page to list your newly minted NFT for sale. Click the “Sell Item” button, set the price for your NFT, confirm the transaction on AreaX and in your Metamask wallet, then sign in to finalize the listing and put it up for sale on the AreaX marketplace!
