The Scatter multi-chain account access tool has broken new ground by adding support for multiple EOSIO chains in its Scatter Desktop browser. Scatter (get-scatter.com) already supported secure access to both ethereum and EOS accounts via the chrome extension and desktop beta versions of their tool. Now by adding support for the Telos Network and its native TLOS token, Scatter Desktop has expanded its support of all blockchains based on EOSIO software.

The Telos Network (telosfoundation.io) is a rapidly developing new blockchain based on the same core EOSIO open source software as EOS but with structural and code innovations to increase network security and reliability while retaining the ability for DApps to be deployed interchangeably on either EOS or Telos. The Telos Contributors Group will begin voting to launch the Telos mainnet as early as September 28th. The Telos testnet is at testnet.telosfoundation.io.

Multiple chains have always been part of the EOSIO vision, but until now, no one has created tools that work across them. Scatter lead developer nsjames (Nathan James) explains, “Multi-chain support was always baked into Scatter from the start, but until Telos there wasn’t actually a chain to test that code on.” Scatter does not support or endorse any single blockchain over another, nsjames notes. “For Scatter it’s all about finding the best way forward for blockchain as a whole. Every individual implementation of a blockchain teaches us something new, and following that same logic every fork or sibling chain does as well.”

Telos white paper author Douglas Horn concurs, “The near future is going to see an explosion of EOSIO sister chains and side chains because the strengths of EOSIO are just better than any alternative technology. Scatter is doing an amazing service to users by giving them the freedom to embrace whatever chains they want in one powerful and awesome tool.”

Multichain support (including Telos) is currently only available on the beta version of the Scatter Desktop build. While the code changes have been merged into the Scatter Github repository, users who wish to access it immediately will need to build it themselves from the Github code. The full build will be included in the next official version of Scatter Desktop. Horn notes, “We can’t wait until this is updated, so everyone can use it, but the Scatter devs are working so hard adding exciting new functionality into Desktop, that no one wants them to pause for pushing out new code. If you build from their repo, you can see what a fantastic — even fun — tool Scatter Desktop is going to be.”
