Telos: A place for purpose
On this first anniversary of the launch of the Telos network, it’s more important than ever to tell our story fully and compellingly. That’s why we’re rolling out a new approach to the Telos brand today — and sharing the details with our awesome community, of course.
Over the past year, we’ve seen that community motivated not just by powerful technical features but also by deeply held values about how blockchain technology can fix real problems for real users. Ultimately, Telos is a movement to collect the brightest minds to create a world that operates in a more trusted and efficient way, that creates freedom and empowers people.
At the Telos Foundation, we realize that conveying those values through all our communication is vital, especially as we look to attract new users in the New Year. To do that, we’re revamping both our approach to communicating the Telos brand and its visual identity, with some invaluable help from the blockchain-focused consulting firm decrypted.
Perhaps the most visible change will be that our old acorn icon and logo are being evolved into a new logo. This simple and meaningful new symbol represents both the physical form of a telos — the ancient Greek term for something or someone’s most important purpose — and our big, blue planet earth, with us all united in our shared purpose to help humanity flourish:
The new symbol for Telos — which we’re nicknaming the “indigo circle” — will also be incorporated into the full typeset name of the Telos network:
The refreshed branding for the network will also include new typography, color scheme, imagery focus, and graphics — all of which are documented in full detail in our new brand guide.
You’ll be seeing our new branding elements at work shortly on Telos.net, a new website we’re working on to serve as a hub for developers, investors, and others contributing to the evolution of Telos.
In the spirit of open source, we also encourage community members to create your own brand assets incorporating the above elements if you wish. For instance, members could create simple graphics incorporating the indigo circle, like this:
With this new branding initiative, the Telos Foundation hopes to seed an ambitious, exciting vision — one that expands what this network is and can be. This means shifting focus from the network’s technical specs to the benefits that Telos can provide as a gathering place for people to join forces around shared purpose.
We truly believe Telos is unique in its focus on purpose-driven action and its shift in focus from mechanics to storytelling within the blockchain industry. That’s why we’re so excited for what’s to come in our community over the next year — and beyond.
