Telos Activates — Time to Elect the TF Board

The Telos Blockchain Network activated activated at 14:15 UTC today. Now the block producers are running the chain and users can perform any actions they like.

It is time to turn our thoughts to the landmark first election of the Telos Foundation Executive Board, which will be conducted using the ‘tf’ contract and the Telos voting service called Trail.

The election kicks off when someone who holds Telos Foundation Voting Tokens (TFVTs) calls the ‘makeelection’ action on the ‘tf’ contract. We intend for this to occur at 5:00 UTC on December 20th. Once this happens there will be a 24 hour period where candidates can be nominated and then accept their nominations. Any TFVT holder may make a nomination of any Telos token holder. Each nominee must accept the nomination and add their name to the ballot. Future elections will have a longer period, but for this first one, there is only 24 hours to do this.

Once nominations close, voting begins for 3 days. When this period concludes, voting is over and any candidate may call ‘endelection’ to finalize the results. If there is a consequential tie, there will be a run-off election for the tied candidates until 12 board members have been elected.
