STORYHIVE and TELUS Originals stand in solidarity against racism, injustice and police violence in BC and Alberta communities and beyond.

In our work, we strive to support Black filmmakers and ensure that creators historically shut out by gatekeepers have the resources to tell their stories on their own terms. To help achieve this, we abide by our anti-racist Code of Conduct.

But that’s not enough.

We continue to educate ourselves and connect with our communities on how we can better uplift Black voices. We are grateful to those who have asked us to further our commitments to Black creators in BC and Alberta.

As a funding body in the screen-based industry, it is our place to amplify marginalized creators and to further their creative visions. We are committed to developing more transparent resources and tools to support emerging Black creators applying for STORYHIVE funding.

As we listen and seek out resources for our own education, we also want to affirm that our inboxes are open, now and in the future. You can always reach us at STORYHIVE@telus.com. We will listen to your feedback. We will answer your questions. We will incorporate them into the resources and opportunities we develop for applicants and creators who trust us partners.

STORYHIVE and TELUS Originals stand with Black Lives Matter, with Black filmmakers and with Black audiences, and will continue to amplify anti-racist voices.
