I’ve maybe never seen so much melodramatic clap-trap squeezed into one little movie in my entire life. Sanctum is what it would be like if Old Yeller was just scene after scene of the kid going around to farmhouses and tearfully shooting rabid dogs. It would be exhausting if it was performed well, when it’s brought to life by terrible acting and a putrid script, it’s unbearable. I struggle to think of the last time I saw a movie so completely composed of hacky dialogue and clichéd situations. I can’t imagine that this film was made for any reason other than to give James Cameron the opportunity to test out some new underwater camera equipment for Avatar 2. To spend any more time talking about Sanctum would be a disservice to humanity. Just forget that you ever heard about it. And if you come across any copies of it, burn them.
