Ten Ideas about Content, Advertising, and Information Diets

  1. Facebook Workplace will evolve into paid, ad free Facebook. If your friends want all the aspects of Facebook with more privacy, Facebook has already built that for you.
  2. SnapChat will have a massive IPO and make some cool gear, but it remains to be seen if people will tire of their friends feeds.
  3. Content will continue to get shit out on every platform. This is great for consumers, and even better for curators.
  4. There’s too much everything. Americans are fat and time-constrained. Information diets are going to become a huge deal.
  5. Information diets will lead to enclaves of information luddites. It’s OK to not remember the name of that actress who was in the thing with the guy.
  6. Stress and anxiety will reduce as people move away from information. Or, more likely, stress and anxiety will increase as we all fight over smaller segments of pie.
  7. There are only so many big budget productions possible in a year. The best names only have so many hours.
  8. There is a growing crop of talented writer/director/editors, they can’t fill every platform with all the best content all the time.
  9. I stray from ideas into ramblings, so here’s an actionable idea; MAKE COOL SHIT.
  10. Forget nine. Find two segments you understand, are passionate about, or are great at, and MAKE THE COOLEST SHIT IN YOUR NICHE.
