Tendermint Ventures to Incubate Pylons as Flagship NFT Chain for Cosmos
Pylons will be the fastest, easiest way to launch a massive NFT product with minimal transaction fees
Tendermint Ventures is thrilled to announce that we are incubating Pylons as our flagship NFT chain for the Cosmos ecosystem. Pylons CEO Michael Sofaer will join Tendermint as Director of NFTs as part of the move.
NFTs are exploding right now, with a $421M market cap in Q1 2021. The demand is palpable among both creators and collectors, but with the vast majority of the activity taking place on Ethereum, NFT users must pay extremely high fees and developers must face steep learning curves and time-consuming obstacles.
Pylons offers developers a fast, interoperable, and permissionless way to build and compose with NFTs thanks to its use of the Cosmos SDK and IBC protocol. The Pylons SDK uses Starport, the leading Cosmos developer suite, to enable complex applications with simple-to-use tools that don’t require learning any blockchain-specific programming languages. NFT developers and creators can lay out custom interactions in JSON and run mobile apps using the Pylons SDK. Because Pylons is its own sovereign chain within the Cosmos ecosystem, the on-chain fees are much more affordable for developers and users compared to congested networks like Ethereum.

Tendermint will support Pylons open-source their process, roll out a testnet, and soon after launch to mainnet. Pylons plans to offer a full SDK and developer docs, along with an art minting app called Easel by July.
