Central bank of the Bahamas announced its own official digital currency establishment. The project is called “Sand Dollar”, and will be tested on first half of 2020. Central bank states that Bahamas’ own digital currency will ensure stability of financial sector, will minimize risks connected with cash turnover, and will boost smaller islands’ economy since commercial banks reduce their presence there.
