Since Mainnet launch in 2022, Ternoa’s network and ecosystem have been growing tremendously.

From now on, Sentinels will play a core function supporting this growth.

With the prime mission of bringing stability & decentralisation to Ternoa blockchain, Sentinels play a crucial role in creating conditions required to the development of our ecosystem.

Sentinels are represented on-chain by an avatar: a NFT with unique design and attributes, belonging to one of 8 classes.

To obtain your NFT and join the Sentinels, follow these simple steps:

  1. Rent a “NFT node” on secret-stash.io to become a RPC node operator for 1 week
  2. Receive your Sentinel NFT
  3. During the renting period, and for a limited period of time, receive a 120% APR on your rent amount

Be swift, there are only 160 SENTINEL NFTs (for now), and only a limited number of RPC nodes will be made available every month !

The Purpose of RPC Nodes

RPC nodes serve as gateways that allow developers to communicate with the blockchain network using remote procedure calls. These nodes provide an interface that enables developers to retrieve information from the blockchain, submit transactions, and execute pallets. By utilizing APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), developers can interact with RPC nodes to retrieve blockchain data such as transaction history, balances, and contract information.

RPC nodes are an essential infrastructure component for decentralized applications (dApps) built on blockchain platforms. These nodes act as intermediaries between the dApps and the blockchain, facilitating data retrieval and transaction processing.

Benefits of RPC Nodes

Data Access: RPC nodes provide developers with easy access to blockchain data. They enable developers to retrieve information quickly, such as the current state of the blockchain, transaction history, and contract details. This data is crucial for building decentralized applications that require real-time and accurate information.

Transaction Processing: RPC nodes allow developers to submit transactions to the blockchain network. Developers can create and sign transactions offline and then send them to the RPC node for broadcasting to the network. This process ensures that transactions are executed efficiently and securely.

Code Execution: RPC nodes enable developers to interact with the blockchain. Developers can call functions within pallets, retrieve data from them, and execute complex logic on the blockchain.

Network Connectivity: RPC nodes provide a reliable connection to the blockchain network. They maintain an up-to-date copy of the blockchain, ensuring developers can interact with the latest data. RPC nodes are distributed across various geographic locations, enhancing network resilience and reducing latency.

Introducing NFT-based “Node-as-a-Service” (NNaaS) and Ternoa Network Incentives

NNaaS is a novel concept aiming to give the easiest access to RPC nodes nodes for users interested in supporting the network, while creating a simple framework to incentivize RPC nodes operations.

In NNaaS, NFTs are used to grant temporary rights on a third-party operated RPC, thanks to NFT renting features:

  • A third-party operates RPC nodes
  • This third-party issues NFT-nodes, which can be rented by end-users (lessees)
  • The lessees pays rent to the lessor, for the amount required to cover RPC nodes operations costs
  • In exchange, the lessee, now operator of the node, becomes the beneficiary of any potential incentives paid by the network to RPC nodes operators

To support network stability, and to celebrate the launch of Sentinels, Ternoa network will pay 120% APRs monthly to RPC nodes operated through NFT Nodes Services.
