TGI Awarded for Creating Most Positive Environmental Impact — Evaluated by Comprehensive B Impact Assessment

This week, Terra Genesis International was recognized on B Corporation’s “Best For The World 2018” list as an Environmental Honoree. This humbling recognition of environmental accomplishments was awarded alongside 227 other honorees spanning 72 different industries and 25 countries, including Carnegie Fabrics, Method, Rubicon Global, and Seventh Generation. TGI made the list due to implementation of exceptional farming principles and practices that increase biodiversity, enrich soils, restore watersheds, and enhance ecosystem services.

“With the rise of anger at a system that feels rigged, people are hungry for companies like Terra Genesis International, who are changing the system by building businesses that seek to create the greatest positive impact,” says Jay Coen Gilbert, co-founder of B Lab. “Best For The World is the only list of businesses that uses comprehensive, comparable, third-party-validated data about a company’s social and environmental performance. As consumers, talent and investors increasingly demand transparent, values-aligned businesses to buy from, work at and invest in, companies will need to not just the best in the world but the best for the world, and not just to be nice but to be the most successful.”

As an international regenerative design consultancy, the TGI team team works through a developmental process with clients that guides the re-imagination of their business and how it operates in the world, specifically in regards to supply networks and biological ingredients. TGI leads the uplifting of agricultural systems in ways that, among other things, sequester more carbon into soils, strengthen communities, reconnect consumers to the source of their products, and empower farmers to innovate. Regenerative practices help reverse current global trends of atmospheric accumulation of carbon, and offer a plethora of benefits such as increased yields, resilience to climate instability, and higher health and vitality for farming and ranching communities.

“It’s not surprising to me that this year Terra Genesis International joined the likes of Seventh Generation, Patagonia, and Alter Eco as Best For The Environment. Their work on regenerative agriculture and international risk assessment brings is at a deeper level than anything else we’re seeing in the natural products industry,” says Ethan Soloviev, EVP Research at HowGood.

Nearly 1,000 Certified B Corporations were named 2018 Best for the World Honorees, including Patagonia, King Arthur Flour Company, Green Mountain Power, and the United Kingdom’s Charity Bank. Fifty-two countries are represented, including Denmark, India, South Africa and Taiwan. The selection criteria for Best for the World honorees are available here.
