Countdown to Terra Mainnet Launch
Pre-launch plan & what to expect

🚀 Countdown to launch with us at https://terra.money/ and share your excitement with #TerraLaunch on Twitter!
Terra is looking to disrupt the traditional financial system by rebuilding the payment stack on the blockchain and powering all digital transactions with our stablecoin. To do this, we’ve gathered some of the largest eCommerce companies in Asia that collectively generate $25 billion in annual transaction volume through 45 million users, so we can effectively push mainstream adoption of Terra. Earlier in 2018, as we were laying out our roadmap, it became clear that in order to operate the payment solution we’ve been designing, we will need full developmental control over where that application would live on. And so the arduous journey to building our independent mainnet began.
Today, we are proud to announce that on Terra’s 1 year anniversary — April 23, 2019, at 23:00 PST — we will launch Mainnet Columbus. This past year has witnessed many milestones, including a successful fundraising round, building a formidable Terra Alliance, and striking the first partnership of its kind with the government of Mongolia. However, we knew that building our independent blockchain would require more resources as well as the involvement of partners. We had to make several orbits, but we are extremely excited that we are now only moments away from touchdown.
As a DPoS system, the success of our ecosystem depends first and foremost on our larger community. To ensure that any Luna holder or developer can easily access our infrastructure, we’ve created five blockchain tools. Most are already publicly available, so take some time to explore.
- Testnet Soju: Get a preview of what to expect by engaging with our testnets named after the popular Korean drink. We have been collaborating with some of our early validators on Testnet Soju v0.0.7.
- Terra Faucet: Receive Terra or Luna for testing purposes by deploying the Terra Faucet on a testnet.
- Terra Docs: Browse the latest Terra developer documentation, including detailed instructions on how to become a validator.
- Terra Station: Delegate and vote your Luna tokens via the Ledger Nano S. Download links will become available at launch.
- Terra Finder: Explore transactions, blocks, and accounts on this simple tool.
So, what’s next?
We only have about a week left until launch. Here is a breakdown of what to expect:
- Friday, April 19, at 00:00 am PST — Terra will start a pre-launch drill. All validators from around the world who are participating in the mainnet launch will attend.
- Friday, April 19, 5:00 am PST — Terra will conclude the drill and start compiling key takeaways for the upcoming launch.
- Tuesday, April 23, 23:00pm PST — Witness the launch of the Terra Mainnet!
Last but not least, we’d like to give a huge shoutout to our validators who have been spending the past few weeks testing Soju v0.0.7 with us. We look forward to our future collaborations and welcome anyone who wants to become part of Mainnet Columbus.
