We’re launching our Validator Feature Series introducing the incredible teams that make up our validator community! Validators play a crucial role in Terra’s success by vigilantly troubleshooting issues in our network and persistently devoting their time, energy, and resources to make it more secure. Not only would we like to highlight the hard work of the teams and individuals who have invested into our network, but we would also like to take the opportunity to allow them to to showcase the features that differentiate them as validators for individuals looking to stake.
Without further ado, we’re excited to kick off our series with a team who has contributed our success: ChainLayer. They will be featured on our community call this week, so make sure to get acquainted with this talented team!
Introduction
Operating out of the Netherlands, ChainLayer is a blockchain infrastructure and staking provider widely recognized for providing reliable and secure staking services. With a strong emphasis on infrastructure that is both sturdy and efficient, ChainLayer has been crucial to providing a fast data backup solution for the Terra Network.
As the current Columbus-3 Network has just passed 2 million blocks, the minimum time to set up a new node or re-set a corrupted one would require several days. However, thanks to ChainLayer’s QuickSync solution, the time is reduced to 0.5–1.5h total! As one of Terra’s most active validators, it’s exciting to see the passion and integrity that ChainLayer brings to upholding and enhancing blockchain infrastructure. If you don’t follow them yet, make sure to do so on Twitter.
How did the ChainLayer team get its start in the blockchain industry?
“The co-founders of ChainLayer met each other in 2012 and have been active in the blockchain industry since. When Tezos was launched we quickly realized that Proof of Stake was going to have a huge impact on the blockchain ecosystem and we had the capability to make a difference there. After Tezos, Cosmos was added and from there on we became a staking service provider supporting many networks, Terra being one of them.”
How would you describe your mission?
“ChainLayer provides secure and reliable validators to secure the networks we validate on. Our mission is to enable networks to be secure by using state-of-the-art technology for our own validators and helping out other validators where we can with tooling and our QuickSync.”
What was the reasoning behind ChainLayer’s decision to become a validator for Terra?
“Terra appealed to us very much because we really like how Terra has a practical use case in the real world. Terra is being actively used by a lot of people which makes it very exciting to be part of it.”
As a Terra validator, what are some of ChainLayer’s differentiating features?
“ChainLayer is where you want to stake if you think security and continuity are important. We don’t take any shortcuts when it comes to hardware, software and networking. All of your nodes are protected by sentries and relays and our connectivity is one of the best in the world.”
