Dear Terrans,

As announced today, I’m honored to call myself a fellow Terran with the responsibility of driving Terra’s international expansion. Prior to this, I was heading the strategy for Uber’s business in APAC.

My decision to change paths from Uber to Terra was definitely not an easy one. I still remember my first meeting with Dan and later with Do to discuss the vision and role. It took hours of reading and talking with them to wrap my head around blockchain and all of its intricacies. Couple of months later, I was not only excited but confident in Terra’s vision to reimagine the payments and financial services space in general. Most importantly, I saw how my past experience at Uber would be a great value-add to Terra’s expansion plans.

I still have a lot to learn, but I now see how a widely-adopted stablecoin is the key to reshaping global finance. The world needs a company with both business acumen and next-generation technology, and Terra is on the right track.

Many have asked why I have chosen to enter an industry best known for volatility and uncertainty. We have a strong team, a clear and united vision, as well as a roadmap that will guide us through any challenges that come our way. And I believe that the primary reason for our current and future success is all of YOU, who have shown unwavering support.

Only after 6 months of powering CHAI in Korea, we announced the launch of stablecoin-powered payments in Mongolia — a concrete testament to the company’s growth from a white paper to a global payments network that boasts a 35% month-over-month transaction volume growth. I plan to continue Terra’s growth by focusing on three areas:

  1. Market Expansion — Building on top of our business in Korea and Mongolia, we plan to expand into Southeast Asia (Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand are top priorities at the moment) in 2020.
  2. Product Diversification — Right now, almost all of our volume is coming from payments. By 2020, we want to make sure that a good chunk of volume is coming from other DeFi products that support borderless accounts/wallets, lending, and remittance.
  3. People — Our team of 50 is growing, and we need more engineers and local hires who can help realize Terra’s vision in international markets. If you have a hunger for solving problems, please check our career’s page for open positions. We will be adding more positions shortly.

I am super excited and looking forward to this next phase which is already off with a great start. Look out for more details around our plans for 2020, and happy holidays!

Cheers

RA
