simple letters — Anam Nawab
i receive letters and hold them to my pounding heart
secretly hide them where they are safe so I can keep them forever
they’re filled with silly jokes and puzzles and a simple “i love you”
you see there is beauty in simplicitythe other women receive poetry
poetry that makes one weep from its beauty
eloquent passionate confessions of devotion
complex and confusing, exactly how love isam i not worth poetry?
perhaps my beauty isn’t mesmerizing and my lips aren’t tantalizing
the movement of my hips on yours was purely physical, my essence wasn’t captivating
my innocence is laughable, painfully naive and idealisticsilly girl, poetry is not meant to be given to girls like you
they are reserved for the one’s that ignite our soul
