On March 25th, 2016, the Association for Women in Computing and the Terrapin Hackers presented their first ever Game Tournament Night at Collider. The scene was filled with Nintendo GameCubes, pizza, and the gleaming chance of gaining Smash Glory.

Game Night organized a 16 bracket tournament, featuring UMD students with Smash skills ranging from complete beginner to expert (or so it seemed to our noobish eyes). Participating in the tournament were also members of UMD’s Smash Club, which host weekly Smash Bros tournaments. For those less competitively inclined, Game Night hosted friendly rounds of Mario Kart: Double Dash.

First and second place walked away with a $50 Amazon gift, and the top 3 each received various All Terp Everything designed Terpwear. Perhaps only a select few captured true Smash glory, but in the end all who participated had a chance at fun. Many continued to play friendly rounds after the tournament ended.

The Association for Women in Computing and Terrapin Hackers would like to thank our sponsor, All Terp Everything, for donating various designed term gear as prizes. You can see more from All Terp Everything here or check out their Facebook page.

Also, a huge thank you to the UMD Computer Science Department for sponsoring this event and providing us with food and drinks, which were so quickly devoured.

Until the next time!
