Diving Into the Unknown: PYL In-Flight (July 18, 2021)

Welcome Back My Deep Diving Passengers:

I am contemplating a new venture which is requiring a deep dive into a new industry and taking the risk of a either a sky dive or like diving into the deep end of a pool from a really high platform. . What risks? Financial, reptuational, and lost opportunities (essentially time that could be spent doing something else).

So the two big questions are around whether the risks are worth it, and how to structure it to mitigate risk and maximize the opportunities for success. Hopefully I will have the answers in the next two weeks. I refuse to buy into paralysis by analysis.

This wouldn’t be a solo venture which is what makes it so appealing. I’d be partnering with someone I respect and have known for over five years. It’s in a new industry but analagous to the one I’ve been working in for over 20 years.

It checks all of the boxes, would leverage so much of what I’ve already learned and done, and would round out my experience as a CEO/operator of something beyond my consulting company.

My husband Zeke is 100% behind me on this and is excited about the opportunity for me. My friend Candice reminded me yesterday that back in April I said I was bored and looking for my next big thing.

This won’t be easy and it would be like jumping on to a moving freight train or taking over the flight controls of a helicopter in flight, one I’ve never flown before and definitely beyond my current paygrade.

Right now I am wrangling my thoughts into something logical to determine what more I need to make my decision. It’s not a simple yes/no since there’s a ‘how’ invoived. And that’s where my network comes into play.

I am reaching out to folks who have the knowledge and experience I can lean on to make an informed decision. The information is going to be incomplete. There is no single solution. It’s a matter of gathering enough information to make the best decision with the information that is available and then move forward.

Will it be perfect? No. Does it have to be? No. Are there things I can figure out later? Yes. Correction, there are things we can figure out later and we will.

Assuming I take the leap and take the controls.

What are you diving into these days? Are you struggling to make a big decision? Tell me all about it so I can support you in your adventures and maybe learn a thing or two to help me with my decision making process.

With much love and gratitude,

Terri

P.S. Take the controls and be the pilot in your own life. It’s a beautiful day to fly, and you are cleared for takeoff.
