Welcome Back My Idyllic Passengers:

It is nearly impossible to choose the best beach sunset picture to share. I scrolled through so many from our first day in Nicaragua and painfully selected a few.

I will share more as we watch the sun set on the beach every day while we are here. Hopefully Christy and I don’t go through an entire bottle of wine each time but I digress.

After we settled in on Sunday, Christy took us on a tour of Hacienda Iguana. We ended up at Pili’s and enjoyed lunch overlooking the beach and surf.

We will be spending the day there tomorrow as Christy and I do some strategic planning work and Finn enjoys the pool, ocean, hammocks, and maybe some beach volleyball.

As we ate lunch, several of Christy’s friends came by to say hello (Ruthy from Venezuela and Kay is American) and we started to get to know the people in Christy’s community.

Last night we had Christy’s downstairs neighbor Josee (French Canadian) over for dinner (we have 10 pounds of beautiful tuna filets to work through) and I realized today that I am going to lean into getting to know the people here rather than getting out to sightsee.

I can see the sights with Zeke when I bring him with me next time.

After lunch, we grabbed a bottle of wine (don’t bother your pretty little head counting the wine bottles) and went over to Adam and Natalie’s place for a casual Sunday get together. Adam is from England and Natalie is from South Africa.

The gals (Natalie, Anna and Tara) were relaxing on a blanket on the grass as the three dogs (Seven, Ginger and Seven’s littermate Keetus) gave Finn some extra love. Anna is also from England and Tara is Canadian.

It looked like a modern day version of a ‘picnic in the park’ painting I’ve seen in the Louvre and the Palace of Legion of Honor. It was idyllic. We were a little tired from traveling and we were getting acclimated to the heat so it was really nice to just sit and relax and chat with new-to-us friends.

Natalie is a healer and guide (check out her IG) and I am hoping to have a session with her while I am here. She’s also over 40 and we discussed being 40 and my book and she will be getting one of the two copies I brought with me. Josée got the other one for the women here in Iguana to pass around and share.

The guys (Adam, Trevor, and Dave) ended up chatting with us around the pool as Finn, being the only one under the age of 18, swam. Christy and I sat on the edge with our feet in the pool to stay cool.

We ended our day back at PIli’s to watch the sunset.

Christy managed to get us our happy hour 3x2 glasses of wine just in the nick of time at 6:01 PM along with some yummy nachos which ended up being our dinner, literally on the beach.

This is definitely Finn’s happy place already.

While we were in the pool yesterday I asked if Finn could see themself living here and Finn responded immediately with ‘yes!’

When Finn asked me the same, I said no. So far it’s been lovely and a great place to visit but I am more of a city girl. Can I see myself living in Paris? Absolutely. Here? Not so much.

These pictures do not do justice to the color of the sky and the beauty of the moment. The waves were crashing. The breeze felt amazing on our bare skin. My hair got curlier by the minute. I can’t believe I thought I might actually do my hair down here and I really should have invested in curly hair products.

After a brief nap on the hammock (apparently I snore), we went up to the roof to look at the stars.

The last time I saw this many stars was when I was in on Necker Island four years ago. Truly stunning.

I’ve yet to see the bats that Christy says fly around the patio but her cat Tino definitely sees them and climbs up the surfboards leaning against the patio wall as she tries to get to them.

Monday was a truly eventful day out in the countryside so I will be writing about that next.

Right now the power is out. Internet just went down so I am connected to the hotspot on my phone. Finn is enjoying a book on the back patio overlooking the golf course. We have all of the doors and windows open to encourage airflow since the ceiling fans aren’t working. It feels lovely despite the heat. Yes, there is boob sweat.

Christy and I are working at the dining room table. She’s trying to get the details out to her retreat attendees for later this month. There’s still time to sign up if you want some intentional mind/body/soul time in a truly beautiful place. She did mention an August retreat just in case June 19th is too soon.

We’ve walked by the retreat location and it’s gorgeous and peaceful, day and night.

But now it’s time to get off the computer and enjoy my vacation. I have a client call this afternoon and a few other things to do for them this week but the rest of the time will be downtime. I don’t need to be productive every day. Update: just canceled the client call!

I’ve decided to lean into getting to know the folks in this community and enjoy the beauty and slower pace of being at the beach.

We had 10 pounds of fresh-from-the-ocean tuna delivered to our door by Manuel the fish guy yesterday so we are having a few of Christy’s friends over for poke bowls. The produce gal will be delivering some mangoes, avocadoes, carrots, spring onions, and a watermelon a little later today. Oh, and limes. Christy can’t shake any more out of the tree downstairs. I think she needs to try again as I film her.

Hasta luego, my friends.

With much love and gratitude,

Terri

P.S. Take the controls and be the pilot in your own life. It’s a beautiful day to fly, and you are cleared for takeoff.
