Piloting Your Life: In-Flight Entertainment (Do You Need Help?) (Aug 5, 2020)
Welcome Back My Helpful Passengers:
It feels like June here in the San Francisco Bay Area. We have morning fog that typical burns off fairly quickly. We used to call it June gloom but with climate change, we may need to come up with a new name because we are now in August.
Today it seems that the gloom may not burn off. There is a nice breeze and it’s a nice change. We have had extraordinary weather this summer here in Redwood City and I am really grateful for it. We can be comfortably outside or inside as we continue to shelter in place for the majority of the time.
The last week and a half have been uneventful in my life and household. I had a pretty terrible two weeks mid July and it felt like I was living in a pressure cooker. It wasn’t like I was being smothered under a weighted blanket; more like my life was going to explode and needed to let off some steam.
This would be a perfect time for me to get out and fly and get above it all but, you know, COVID, and there are no helicopters for me to rent in the San Francisco Bay Area. The one I used to fly crashed last summer.
My friend Stu sent me this pic from a few years ago when I took him flying. When I see these pics or memories on Facebook, I start to feel desperate to find a way to fly. My head is always clearer after I fly.
Alas I will have to find other ways to keep my head on straight.
The energy in our house will change next week as we are taking Adam down to San Diego. He’s moving into a house with a few friends and I think they are all doing all of their classes online. He will still be required to send me his daily proof of life picture and I expect to Facetime with him once or twice a week. Otherwise, he’s on his own.
At least I know he won’t starve. He’s been cooking for us while Zeke and Rei have been backpacking somewhere in the wild. He can roast a whole chicken, make chicken stock from the carcass, roast veggies, make rice, make chicken Caesar salad from scratch, make fried rice, and mix up a mean bowl of guacamole. He’ll be fine on the food front. One less thing to worry about.
YouTube: But I was Always the Evil Twin (Terri is an Angel?)
I try to record my YouTube videos a day or two before we release them so that I can talk about the latest and greatest. Since Rei abandoned me with their father and is traipsing through the wilderness, we had to record back to back on Thursday. I thought it would be a great time to talk about what it means to be an angel investor, how I operate, and why it’s different for women investors. Check out yesterday’s video. And please subscribe. I am trying to add 50 new subscribers this month.
YouTube: Who’s Got Your Back (Personal Board of Directors)
After talking to a few friends recently, I confirmed that I am not the only person who struggles with reaching out for help. Might be time for a personal board of directors or roster of people with specific roles or areas of expertise (not just professional) to help when you are struggling and are drawing a blank as to who to call. More in Saturday’s video.
What’s my challenge for you today? Make a list of the important people in your life and what areas they can help you with. Post it somewhere that is easy to access when you need help.
With much love and gratitude,
Terri
P.S. Take the controls and be the pilot in your own life. It’s a beautiful day to fly, and you are cleared for takeoff.
