Piloting Your Life: In-Flight Entertainment (Building Community Through Food) (Feb 6, 2018)
Welcome Back My Unseasonably Warm Passengers:
It feels like May here in the Silicon Valley and while we desperately need the rain, the sunshine feels great. I love being able to sit outside with clients, founders, and investors talking shop and looking for ways to change the world for the better. We are so incredibly fortunate to be able to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world despite the traffic, high cost of living, and the economic disparities. My optimism is fueled by the women and men who are trying to do great things in the world and generally make it a better place.
Last week I had the pleasure of being on my friend Diana’s (AKA Mole Mama) radio show where we talked about my desire to build community around food (and yummy adult beverages), the importance of cooking and dining as a family, how having a beautifully set tables adds to the dining experience, and how I love to cook and eat French food, both here and in France. We often have cocktail parties in our front garden for anyone who wants to come. If the weather continues, we might just have to ‘build our community’ by opening up some bubbly and enjoying some French cheese.
In-Flight Entertainment: Jillian Manus
Tuesday Interview: I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to meet and interview this week’s guest Jillian Manus. I first heard her on the podcast, The Pitch and was impressed by her business knowledge and insight. I was on a pitch panel with her this past fall and when she introduced herself (I hadn’t recognized her) I totally fan-girled her. I didn’t know much about her other than what I heard on The Pitch, but over the last few months I have had the opportunity to learn more about her, how she got to where she is and what motivates her. I highly recommend listening to The Pitch’s interview with Jillian about how she got to where she is today. She is at the top of my most-admired list as a result.
