Piloting Your Life: In-Flight Entertainment (Four Seasons) (Nov 5, 2019)

Welcome Back My Well-Seasoned Passengers:

I started using a new journal / planner from Silk + Sonder and spent some time last night recapping the month of October and looking ahead to November. October was a doozy of a month and I ran out of room summarizing the “wins” for the month. That is a good thing and explains why it felt like a hard month.

The #LiftNotDrag campaign was a success with reposts, comments, and uplifting stories. Don’t let this be the end of supporting other women! Keep up the great work of doing one good thing to support a woman everyday again this month.

The Mead Family Annual Scarefest was a scary success and we have the theme for next year!

Piloting Your Life (the book) had a great month with the launch party, two house parties, and a book signing event. We got going with the monthly Crew Chat topics with Friendship for September and Money for October. We released 5 new episodes of Piloting Your Life (the podcast) and the weekly In-Flight Entertainment.

Rei and I continued cooking a few times a week and blogging about our French cooking experiences (not always successful but always a good learning experience) on Medium under Thyme and Champagne. We even had our first guest chef (Kate) join us one night for what turned into an evening of cooking improv.

I made two investments (one new and one follow on) and managed to pick up a new client.

We even made it down to San Diego to visit our son Adam in his new habitat.

It seems appropriate that Zeke and I ended the month looking like this at the Scarefest.

More goodness to come in November for which I am grateful every day (which just happens to be this month’s theme…gratitude). How was your October? Did you have any big wins or learnings? Drop me a line…I’d love to hear about them.

Piloting Your Life (the book)

Piloting Your Life (the book) is now available for broader distribution on IngramSpark. Yeah! This means that independent bookstores can order copies for sale rather than having to go through Amazon (not sure what that path even looks like) or through me. If you are in your local bookstore, please ask them to carry the book.

I even have independent reviews from the likes of Kirkus Reviews and ReedsyDiscovery. The ReedsyDiscovery review will be live on November 6th and it’s perfect. Check out the review here! The reviewer totally got the book! We’ve exchanged a few emails since (I had to send her a thank you note) and she said that she rarely gives out 5 star reviews but had to for Piloting Your Life.

Piloting Your Life was submitted for a few book awards and while the first awards won’t be announced until later this month), the book is listed under three categories on the American Book Fest website. Piloting Your Life is the first listing under Health! The other two categories are Self Help: Motivational and Women’s Issues.

Keep your fingers crossed and send some positive juju my direction. What will I win? A lovely label/sticker that I can add to the book, my website, and promotional material adding further credibility (and hopefully visibility) for the book.

Piloting Your Life (the podcast)

We are starting to hear more about Gen Z, the generation that follows millennials. Gen Z people were born between 1996 and 2010 or 1997 and 2012 depending on who is reporting and is followed by the latest generation, generation Alpha. Gen Z, per one report, represents 27% of the US population (82M) and is slightly larger than the millennial generation which represents about 25% of the US population (80M).

Yes, you read that correctly. Move out of the way millennials, your time in the sun is about to be dimmed because Gen Z is bigger and operates very differently in the world.

For this week’s episode of Piloting Your Life (the podcast) I spoke with Dr. Naama Barnea-Goraly about all things Gen Z. She and I are both inspired and hopeful because of the attributes of this generation and we Gen X parents have a lot to do with this. Well, that and technology, war, the recession, and more. Enjoy!

I hope you take flight and soar this week!

Terri

P.S. Take the controls and be the pilot in your own life. It’s a beautiful day to fly, and you are cleared for takeoff.
