Grow your f$$$ing Reddit before you start promoting

Reddit has almost 1.5 billions visits each month. In 2019 the user base was 430 million monthly active users.

From my point of view Reddit is a forum with social media accents. You have this sub-forums named subbreddits. Subbreddit can be made by any user with an account that is 30 days old and has ‘some’ reputation (Karma). You get Karma on reddit by getting your posts/comments upvoted by others. People can interact by upvoting/downvoting. This applies both to posts and comments.

Now. When you want to market on reddit anything, you first need to have reputation (Karma). Many subreddits have a certain requirements, like a minimum karma. And this applies especially for posting links.

So. Before you try to spam (which I don’t recommend) reddit, grow your freaking account.

Here is an easy way:

1. head toward your favorite subreddits
2. filter by Top posts and select All Time
3. now you can either re-post those topics or something similar
4. make 1–2 posts every 1–2 days until you get to at least a few hundreds on your Karma

Make sure that the topic is still relevant today. The subreddit you see in the picture above is only an example for how to filter posts. The top posts are news relevant 1–2 years ago. Don’t try to re-post as those are not that relevant today.

The easiest subreddits to grow your Karma are those based mostly on photos and gifs. Especially those related to topics like: funny, animals and adult. Most of this content can be re-posted.Just make sure that the post was made at least 6 months ago.

Another hot topic is politics, mostly for fresh news. But I tend to avoid that as I am not into that.

• Another way to check top posts is by using webarchive, but that is slow and webarchive doesn’t always have records for all subreddits.
• Another… another method is to post things you are passionate about. But you must be really good at it.

P.S. Keep in mind that posts with a question tend to get the most comments. Posts without a question tend to get the most upvotes.

After you grow your account Karma and your account is 1 month old, you should have an idea of how reddit works. You should’ve seen how others are posting links on reddit and towards what type of content and monetization. Replicate that and do your best to follow reddiquette.
