Gender equality is no longer a welcoming choice but a conscious goal. Providing equal opportunities to all employees is an integral part of any organization to thrive. But most often, the conversation about equality revolves around women. It’s time to move beyond gender roles and ensure a truly equitable work culture for all.

In light of International Men’s Day, we acknowledge the positive contributions of men at work and put an effort to create equal opportunities for them to grow. At TestVagrant Technologies, policies to employee engagement — every aspect of our culture revolves around the notion of equality and inclusion. Let’s take a closer look at these in the following sections.

Worklife Balance

The flexibility of work and work-life balance has long been pitched as beneficial for women. But we ensure that male employees can also maintain their work-life balance and contribute to family and household chores. Thus, our inclusive policies contribute to maintaining our employees’ well-being while promoting gender equality in society at large.

Here’s what Paresh Wardhan, one of our SDETs has to say about our flexible work culture: “TestVagrant cultivates an output-focused team culture — our focus is on the performance of the employees, not the presence in the office. The flexibility at work helped me maintain work-life balance and fulfil my professional and personal commitments.”

Sudhindra Sridharan — our Delivery Lead puts it this way: “Workplace flexibility is not only about convenience. It speaks volumes of the trust our organization puts in us. And we are committed to delivering to the expectation.”

Our Employees Subverting Gender Roles

Human resource management has long been a niche dominated by women. A study by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics finds that male HR executives comprise only 26.7% of the entire HR domain. Hear it from Arjun Janardhan on being an HR executive at TestVagrant: “In my HR MBA class, we had a 27:2 ratio of women and men. My passion led me to venture into the domain and 8 years down the line, I am still learning. That’s how vast the domain is! I believe the HR field is gradually being diversified and am hopeful to see more male representation in the coming days.”

At TestVagrant, we are always on the lookout to subvert stereotypical gender roles — beyond professional life. Our employees shared their pictures with family and friends, doing household chores, cooking, spending time with their children and being a backbone to the entire family. They uphold the notion that every responsibility is a shared responsibility and go beyond gender normativity!

It’s time to have some fun! Celebrating International Men’s Day

This year, the theme of International Men’s Day is Helping Men & Boys which highlights aspects like promoting positive male role models, celebrating men’s positive contributions to society, improving gender relations, and creating a safer and better world.

We asked our employees how they want to raise their kids. Hear it from our Sr. Recruiter Noel David: “As a mother, I want to create a safe space where boys can express their feelings and vulnerabilities. I always encourage my son to be honest with his feelings and thoughts. Speak up; don’t ‘man up’!”
