8/10

Whether it be history, art, or science museum, leave with a sense of wonder and curiosity that can only be satiated by long text-filled walks or the gift shop up at the front. While fascinating, I find museums the perfect date for a specific type of person. Certainly not a bad first date idea, museums usually are best coupled with a walk along the park or a meal.

2. Roller skating/Ice Skating🛼

5/10

Rollerskating and Iceskating are a great way to let loose, laugh at each other and yourself for the spunky crowd. Certainly one of the more active picks, skating doesn't allow for too much conversation unless you want to hook arms. So I would recommend a date like this to those willing to fall and already have a partner.

3. Drive to the middle of nowhere to look at stars💫

DO NOT AGREE TO THIS AS A FIRST DATE OMG!!!!

DO NOT ASK SOMEONE TO DO THIS FOR A FIRST DATE!!!

Stars are very romantic, but unless you know the person very well, "driving out to the middle of nowhere" doesn't scream "good idea" to me. Otherwise, it is a light-hearted setting with lots of room for conversation and other activities. I would recommend this coupled with a nice dinner or a late-night pit stop at a gas station for Slurpees.

3. Geocaching📦

6/10

Unbeknownst to some, geocaching is real-world treasure hunting. Again, due to the nature of this date, I would not recommend it as a "get to know" opportunity. I see this choice as more of a fun adventure between you and your partner. The basic idea is to research local geocaches in your area (there will probably be some) and follow the clues/coordinates until you find a hidden box. Inside that box will either be a bunch of trinkets left from adventurers before you and/or a scroll that you write your name or nickname on to claim your venture as a success!

4. Pottery/Ceramics 🏺

10/10!!!

This is such a cute idea to me! Finally, you and your person are making something together, getting your hands dirty, and coming out with art you made by hand! It's like you are forging the memory into the sculpture! That being said, I think you can look at this date idea one of two ways: 1. I am choosing a relaxing activity to get to know the person I am with, or 2. Wow, things are getting serious. Better make a vase or something with this person. Either way, I find this date quite adorable! Make sure you or your date don't have long nails, though; it can make the process somewhat tricky!

5. Butterfly/zen garden 🦋

Much like museums, a visit to the local gardens allows for a perfect opportunity to get to know one another. In addition, being surrounded by beautiful scenery adds a level of romance to the date without coming on too strong; it's a great first date as long as the weather is good! And it makes for some great photos!

6. Visit the Library/Book Store📚

7/10

Probably best proceeded by a meal, a bookstore gives more insight into what kind of an intellectual you date is. Maybe they like mysteries, perhaps they like magazines, maybe they love the classics. Exploring while supporting a local book shop is a fun, light-hearted get-to-know-you.

7. Paintball/Airsoft/laser tag 🔫

6/10

ADRENALINE!! Best depicted in the 90s hit "10 things I hate about you," this date is probably not the best first one. But it is a lot of fun for those up for a little bit of competition!

8. Drive to a nice neighborhood and go on a walk; point out houses you like 🏡

4/10

This one is just cute, not much of a date, but cute!

9. Picnic 🧺

10/10!!!

I am a big believer in the power of a good picnic. It's cute, fun, and allows for conversation, and I feel like a Jane Austen character when attending. It's a charming setting that makes my heart bloom open, so I recommend it. Pick the location at a park or a lake and learn to skip rocks!

10. Play video games together 🎮

2/10

I don't count this as a date; I see it more as a night in. If someone wants to take you out on a first date and this is their suggestion, I would most likely say you deserve something nicer than that. However, for pre-established relationships, this is an excellent choice on how to spend the night, and I encourage you to figure out which one of you is better at Mario kart vs. Mario Party.

11. Putt-putt ⛳️

7/10

Another fun date that entirely depends on the weather ❤

Putt-Putt (or Mini-Golf) is a lovely competition that keeps the ball moving between conversations! Don't pick a day too hot or windy, or this might become a mini-disaster!
