The Texas MBA rose five ranks to hit No. 12 among 98 ranked schools in Fortune magazine’s Best MBA Programs for 2025.

The top three positions in the fourth annual ranking went to Harvard, Chicago, and Northwestern, respectively.

Among public schools, McCombs leapfrogged over Berkeley (16) and UCLA (23) to place third behind Michigan (7) and Virginia (11).

This marks the highest rank for the Full-Time MBA which has enjoyed four years in Fortune’s top 20.

Fortune’s methodology saw a significant overhaul this year. While continuing to consider salary and employment outcomes (40%) and the number of the school’s MBA alumni holding C-Suite position in Fortune 1000 companies (20%), ranking administrators included new items rarely seen in business school rankings, such as graduation rate (10%), retention rate (5%), and tuition (5%), as well as a slew of common inputs, such as GMAT, GPA, acceptance rate, yield, and the school’s previous ranking (total, 20%).
