Texas is a big state with many years of rich history, so it only makes sense that it should also be home to some of the coolest and most unique antique shops around. Whether you’re a Texas resident looking for that special piece to spruce up your living room or a tourist looking to take a part of Texas history home, these are 5 antique shops you should definitely check out.

1. The Gladewater Antique Mall- Gladewater, Texas

The small town of Gladewater, Texas — home to the Gladewater Antique Mall — is the self-proclaimed “Antique Capital of East Texas.” The town itself has seen its fair share of history. Elvis Presley spent some time there early in his career, while Johnny Cash wrote his hit song “I Walk the Line” in Gladewater while passing through on tour. Being in a small town with this much history has allowed The Gladewater Antique Mall to acquire some amazing pieces over the years.

2. Star Antique Fine Vintage Lighting- Wimberly, Texas

Just like the name suggests, Star Antique Fine Vintage Lighting specializes in vintage lighting and fixtures. But don’t be fooled, this little store has a lot of other antique treasures. In fact, Star Antique has so many items to look through that they don’t fit within the store’s four walls. This quirky Wimberly shop has just as many pieces for sale outside as it does inside. So if you find yourself in Wimberly be sure to stop by and have a look.

3. Gruene Antique Company- Gruene, Texas

Located in the old German settlement of Gruene, Texas this shop is a stop you won’t want to miss. Having been built in 1903 and originally serving as a general store, the Gruene Antique Company building is now recognized as a historic Texas landmark, and what better place to shop for a piece of history… than in a piece of history! The Gruene Antique Company isn’t just a nice building either — inside you will find over 6,500 square feet of merchandise to browse through.

4. Uncommon Objects- Austin, Texas

For those looking for something a bit different there is no better place to visit than Uncommon Objects. Arguably no store embodies Austin’s unofficial slogan of “Keep Austin Weird” as much as Uncommon Objects. Boasting not just an impressive collection of high quality antiques, the folks at this store make it a point to go out and find the most diverse and unique pieces they can. Be it a lamp made from an old trumpet or a picture frame crafted from alligator teeth, Uncommon Objects is sure to have something you’ve never seen before.

5. Sunrise Antique Mall- Kerrville, Texas

Basically, if it’s vintage, cool and fun you’ll find it at Sunrise Antiques Mall.
