2018 Wreath Laying Ceremonies at Texas State Veterans Cemeteries

Every year after Thanksgiving, the four Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) Texas State Veterans Cemeteries hold their annual holiday wreath laying ceremonies to honor and remember our nation’s military heroes. One holiday wreath is placed on every grave, monument and columbarium for the Veterans and their families who are interred at each cemetery.

American Legion Post 101 and American Legion Department of Texas District 15 were delighted to accept a very generous donation from Doctors Hospital at Renaissance to help purchase additional wreaths and bows for the wreath laying ceremony.

The Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery is seeking volunteers to assist in prepping over 2,500 wreaths at the cemetery Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Volunteers who are interested may stop by at any time without notice. Volunteers and staff will also be setting up bows and wreaths on Saturday, November 10, after the Veterans Day flag-laying, which begins at 10:00 a.m.


The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) has four Texas State Veterans Cemeteries across Texas in Abilene, Corpus Christi, Killeen and Mission. These cemeteries are hallowed grounds exclusively for Veterans, their spouses and dependents.
