The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) along with the Texas Veteran Commission (TVC) and the University of Texas at Tyler are pleased to announce that the East Texas Back 2 School Veteran Resource Fair will be held on August 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00PM at UT Tyler University.

This event will be co-hosted by the Texas Veterans Land Board, the Texas Veterans Commission, and the University of Texas at Tyler. This will be open to all current Military members, Veterans, and their family members located in the counties of Smith, Henderson, Van Zandt, Wood, Gregg, and more!

In keeping with the theme of Back to School, we are also hosting a school supplies drive for the families of the soldiers from the Texas National Guard Unit that drills at the Tyler Armed Forces Reserve Center located off State Highway 31.

At the event, veterans and active military can:

  • Talk with TVC’s team about disability compensation, health care and employment services. Please bring a copy of DD214 for help with your VA compensation claims.
  • Speak with VLB representatives on land, home and home improvement loan programs, state Veterans homes and cemeteries.
  • Meet the local Military Veteran Peer Network members and other local veteran service organizations, including the VA.
  • Donate school supplies such as backpacks, notebooks, pens, tissues, etc.
  • Enjoy dishes from local food trucks.

This event is one in a series of events that the TVC and the VLB are partnering on to reach underserved Veteran populations. This is an excellent opportunity for organizations to reach hundreds of military families in East Texas. Do not miss out on this one-of-a-kind event, which will be full of resources, camaraderie, and food trucks!

This free event is open to veterans, active-duty military and their families well as the general public.
