Dear Veteran,

It’s hard to believe that we are already more than three-quarters through this year. Much like last year, 2021 has been full of ongoing challenges and new opportunities to adapt to them. Through it all, my team and I at the VLB have been focused on improving our outreach to Veterans across Texas. With the year quickly coming to an end, October is a key time to continue this important work. I’m excited to share with you some of the recent and upcoming events that we have been involved in.

Communities across Texas have been busy re-establishing their communications with Veterans as we recover from the pandemic and the VLB has been fortunate enough to participate in many of these local events and benefits fairs to promote our agency’s many unique benefits. We offer low-interest land and home improvement loans and access to our Veterans Homes and Veterans Cemeteries.

Recently, in Dallas during the three-week-long State Fair of Texas, our team was on site to promote our unique benefits to hundreds of Texas Veterans. With over 2 million visitors at this year’s fair, we were thrilled with the turnout. Over 1,200 veterans visited our VLB booth, and we appreciated answering the many questions we received. Elsewhere across the state, our team is partnering with other Veteran advocacy groups to continue serving Veterans. Some of the upcoming events we have include:

  • Oct. 26, Dallas Military & First Responder Benefits and Resource Fair
  • Nov. 4, McAllen Public Library Veterans Expo
  • Nov. 11, Dallas College Veterans Day Resource Fair

We hope to see you at one of these events, but if not, then I also encourage you to check out our weekly Zoom@Noon events. During these lunchtime discussions, our experts frequently host discussions with knowledgeable folks who can guide Veterans through benefits claims, promotions, discounts and other advantageous opportunities for Veterans, Military Members and their spouses. To sign up, be sure to visit our website: vlb.texas.gov

We take great pride in serving Veterans across our great state. It’s one of my greatest privileges to lead this team of caring individuals who dedicate their time to our nation’s heroes. If we can ever be helpful to you or a Veteran you may know, please have them reach out. We are available around the clock and are more than happy to provide help.

May God continue to bless you, your family, and the great state of Texas.
