“Buy land — they’re not making any more of it,” is a quote attributed to Mark Twain. We agree. So for almost 75 years, the Texas Veterans Land Board has helped Veterans buy their own piece of Texas, where raw land is still plentiful. There are land tracts available from the Piney Woods to the Panhandle and from the mountains to the beaches.
Under the VLB’s unique land loan program, Veterans and Military Members can pick their own property to purchase. Land tracts meeting the VLB guidelines qualify for what we think is the best total raw land finance package:
- An interest rate of 7.25%
- Financing of land tracts up to $150,000
- As little as 5% down payment (subject to credit approval)
- Up to 30 years to pay on a fixed-rate term
- No pre-payment penalty
Applications require a $325 appraisal and contract service fee.
Additionally, VLB offers quarterly land tracts exclusively to Veterans and Military Members to bid on. Currently, there are three land tracts available. All bids must be placed by 5 p.m. CDT on April 28. Any land not purchased by a Veteran is made available to the public.
