Oral History: Meet U.S. Navy Veteran Cindy Alvarez

Cindy Alvarez joined the U.S. Navy in 1981. She studied journalism, radio, and TV broadcasting at the Defense Information School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana. Ms. Alvarez served in Puerto Rico, Rhode Island and Spain before leaving the service in 1986. In 1987 she joined NIS and retired as a federal agent in 2008. Ms. Alvarez is now working on her doctorate in history in Denton, Texas.
