Oral History: Meet Vietnam U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve Veteran, Ivan Pierce
Ivan Pierce joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served fifteen months in Vietnam, from Jan 1967 to March 1968 with the 4th Infantry Division.
Mr. Pierce wrote An Infantry Lieutenant’s Vietnam, his personal memoir where he shares memories of his “tour of duty”.
In 1969, he resigned his commission as a Captain and began working for the Boise City Police Department.
Mr. Pierce then joined the Army National Guard. He further went on to join the Army Reserves from which he retired in 1991 as a Master Sergeant.
Mr. Pierce now lives at the Ambrosio Guillen Texas State Veterans Home in El Paso.
