Oral History: Meet WWII U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, Keifer Marshall

Born and raised in Temple, Keifer Marshall served as a Marine rifleman during WWII.
He took part in the famous Battle of Iwo Jima with Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marines. During the fight, he and members of his unit were cut off by the Japanese and spent over 36 hours behind enemy lines without reinforcements or supplies.
He also was a Longhorn and played football before the war, and graduated from UT upon his return. He then started his own insurance business and served as Mayor of Temple.
