Oral History: Meet WWII W.A.S.P. Veteran Millie Dalrymple
In honor of June 12 being Women's Veteran Day, we wanted to spotlight Ms. Millie Dalrymple.
She joined the Women Airforce Service Pilots (W.A.S.P.) in 1943 after her husband was shot down and killed over Europe.
A graduate of the University of Texas, Ms. Dalrymple would go on to fly countless hours ferrying planes across the United States in support of the war effort.
In 2010, she was awarded a Congressional Gold Medal for her actions.
Because of COVID-19, we’re now recording all of our interviews over the phone. We’d love to hear your story too. If you’re interested in sharing, please sign up at voicesofveterans.org/your-story and we’ll be in touch soon.
