The high-quality care at the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas has been recognized with the 2014 Bronze — Commitment to Quality Award by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL).

This award is the first of three distinctions possible through the National Quality Award Program. The program honors centers across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to improving quality care for seniors and individuals with disabilities.

The Texas Veterans Land Board contracted with Touchstone Communities to manage the Clyde W. Cosper State Veterans Home.

“I applaud the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home and Touchstone Communities for being committed to delivering quality care,” said Mark Parkinson, president and CEO of the AHCA and NCAL. “This award represents a real dedication to details.”

The AHCA and NCAL work to help long-term care providers achieve their performance excellence goals. The program has three levels: bronze, silver and gold. Bronze is the first step. Long-term care providers must show that they have developed an organizational profile with essential performance elements and implemented a performance improvement system to earn the recognition.

The award will be presented to Touchstone Communities and its administrators of the Clyde W. Cosper State Veterans Home during the AHCA and NCAL’s 65th Annual Convention and Exposition in October. Touchstone Communities manages five of the eight Texas State Veterans Homes across the state.

Texas Veterans Land Board State Veterans Homes provide affordable, skilled, long-term nursing care for Texas Veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents.
