Veterans-Only Land Sale

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. along with the Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) is pleased to announce the Veterans-only land sale is now open for bidding.

Veterans interested in participating need to set up an online bidding account with the VLB and may then bid on up to six (6) tracts but will only be awarded one (1) tract if they are the highest bidder. In total, there are eight tracts available for bidding totaling more than 250 acres.

Key things to know:

· A minimum bid is set for each tract and is based on the current appraised value,

· Bidding on a tract does not obligate a Veteran to purchase that tract, even if they are the high bidder,

· A Veteran or Military Member whose bid is accepted may apply for a VLB Land Loan at a 7.25% interest rate, with a 30-year term and a minimum 5% down payment.

· Veterans are encouraged to inspect the tract prior to making a bid. Tracts are sold as-is,

· If the Veteran uses VLB financing, any amount offered over the minimum bid must be paid at closing and the maximum loan amount offered through the VLB Land Loan Program may not exceed $150,000.
