Learning about the Real James Brown

Do you ever wonder why James Brown made his music the way he did? I haven’t heard anyone like him. He had a singing voice, but it sounded as if he was talking to the people also through his songs with messages.

James Brown: The messages are more important, but it takes the music to get the attention.

James Brown’s music did get the attention of the audience as well as his words.

Some of us never knew James Brown. Some of us go by what we have seen of a man portraying him in a movie. However, you know Hollywood. They take the truth and twist it. In the movie, “Get On Up”, I do not know if all of the movie was true, but it’s good to hear James Brown speak for himself in documentary and interviews. The movie did not tell you everything about James Brown.

Politics

There is so much about James Brown that some of us may not know. He was a political man. James was able to have a meeting with the Pope. Now, he had to be pretty special to have a meeting with the Pope. According to James Brown, he visited Jerusalem, and met all of the presidents around the world.

Ambition

I have heard James Brown say that his ambition was to eat. He was very hungry and poor. Singing was how James earned a living. Maybe that is how James Brown learned some things about business. James believed in being involved with other people than self. He believed that survival was the main thing. James also believed in God and that he was everything.

Success

James Brown said that he had so many hits that he didn’t get credit for. He was getting a million seller every three months. With some people, it takes them a year to get a million seller. He was getting 3 million sellers a year. Every 3 months he’d have a million seller. James Brown’s record company wanted him to sit down and rest.

James Talks Business

James Brown: “When God resurrects you, then you should resurrect other people. Because they need music. You can take a 45 record and create and take a 100,000 records and create 5 million jobs. Because you got the record shops, you got the lawyers, you got the musicians, you got clubs. A lot of things happen from that.”

Not very many people have the heart knowledge that James had today. The same idea that James had, I was taught to think the very same way. James was brought up in a time where people would stick together. Today, I don’t see it very much. James Brown was a smart man, and James Brown had heart and soul.
