Textbook Ventures is a student-led organisation based in Sydney that aims to promote entrepreneurship and innovation across university campuses in Australia. We run events and publish digital content fostering personal growth, community and the discovery of new possibilities in the startup space. We are looking for passionate students to join our team for 2023.

Our Digital, Marketing and Publications teams have exciting roles open. Specific descriptions of each role are below but first are some qualities we look for in all of our team members.

Digital and Marketing 📸

The Digital and Creative Team are responsible for Textbook Venture’s brand, online engagement and growth. The team produces attention-grabbing graphics and videos to promote Textbook Ventures and our events. They manage our content creation and curation across our social media platforms.

Head of Digital and Marketing

The owner of our brand and external engagement online. Platforms include; LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter.

As the Head of Digital and Marking, you will:

  • Be a creative and social-media savvy leader, acting as the glue that brings together Social Media Managers and Creative Directors to shape and promote Textbook Ventures
  • Skilled in marketing and branding
  • Have the passion and skills for graphics design, video editing or photography

(Commitment of 2–3 hours per week on average)

Marketing Director

You will craft the community’s crucial first impression and image of Textbook Ventures. To excel at this role, you will:

  • Have a knack for what is eye-catching and effective for promoting our events, publications and brand, both online and in person
  • Have the passion and skills for graphics design, video editing or photography

(Commitment of 1–2 hours per week on average)

Social Media Manager

You will be responsible for engaging with our community online on behalf of Textbook Ventures and drive growth. Platforms include; LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. This role is for you if you:

  • Experienced with creating and growing a community or brand (even if its a personal account) on a wide range of social media platforms
  • Strategic and analytical, you enjoy identifying opportunities to improve and grow

(Commitment of 1–2 hours per week on average)

Publications Team 📰

The growth of our digital product offering will be a focus for Textbook Ventures in 2023. Our weekly newsletter provides a snapshot of all the big developments in the startup ecosystem, job and internship opportunities, and upcoming events (and more). We publish interviews with industry experts, student founders and other interesting figures in the ecosystem on our Medium and podcast.

As a part of our Publications Team, you will:

  • Be up-to-date on the newest trends and developments in the business and tech world and the local startup community
  • Be in tune with what resonates with and interests our audience of young entrepreneurs and students to create insightful and inspiring content

Head of Publications

Managing all things related to creating and publishing our digital content, including our weekly newsletter, podcasts and medium posts.

As the Head of Publications, you will:

  • Utilise and develop your exceptional written and verbal communication skills to oversee the quality of all our digital content
  • Grow as a leader by managing the Publications team to ensure the timely delivery of our digital content
  • Deliberate and create storyboards/themes to fill in our content calendar.
  • Leverage your excellent interpersonal and networking skills to secure guests for interviews.

(Commitment of 2–4 hours per week on average)

Content Manager

The Content Manager has the most hands-on role in producing our digital content. You will be able to realise your greatest ideas in a digital medium of your choice, whether that’s an article, vlog or podcast.

  • Plan and produce digital content across various topics — including founder journeys, exciting innovations, and developments in the startup ecosystem.
  • Interviewing exciting people and publishing an article or podcast form

(Commitment of 2–4 hours per week on average)
