What’s In The Box?
It’s almost Christmas, and you know what that means: Boxes! So many boxes. A box is so tantalizing because it’s a mystery. What could be in there?
Even as a child I loved spoiling Christmas for myself — I blame my parents, who foolishly thought their bedroom closet was the perfect present-hiding space — so let’s not wait for Dec 25th to show what you get in the box when you order a TextNow phone. There’s even a surprise at the end of this article, just like a real present!
First of all, let’s talk about the box itself. Aside from being compact to save on shipping costs, and being cute as a button, it’s also 100% recyclable. No need to add it to another landfill site or garbage dump.
Then we get to the good stuff:
Obviously, the most important part of any phone purchase is the phone. Our stand-in phone for this photo shoot is one of LG Tribute 5 test-devices, so the more eagle-eyed among you will note that the phones we ship come with a protective plastic film over the screen, and another one over the back camera lens. Remember to take those off before you start using the phone and especially before you use the camera, because the plastic over the lens will make your photos look like when they show an older actor on a soap opera and they smear vaseline all over the lens to make them look younger. That’s not gonna fool anybody.
Next: The battery. Now, I know what some of you are saying — “Wait a minute, my phone didn’t come with a battery!” That’s because some of our phones don’t have removable batteries: the J3 Emerge, HTC Bolt, Samsung S6 and S7(and the S6 and S7 Edge), and our iPhones 5S, 6 and 7. All other models will have a battery shipped with them — just pop it into your phone before you turn it on.
Of course, the battery only lasts so long. That’s why we include an AC charger and a USB cable. The charger is for plugging into a wall socket — plug the charger into a socket, and the bigger USB end into the charger, with the smaller USB end into your phone. You can also plug the USB cable into another device with power — laptop, monitor, game console, for example — and it will also transmit a charge to your phone, albeit slower than if you had it going directly into the charger. And here’s a nifty tip: You phone will charge faster if it’s turned off. So if you’re in a rush, power your phone off before plugging it into a charger, and it’ll get juiced up with some nice fresh electricity in a jiffy.
And finally, a Quick Start guide. While “quick” is the key word here, the flipside of that sheet gives you a quick rundown of how you can access your account through the app and online, as well as a link to our Support pages.
