Plenty Global Hackathon: Plenty x Tezos India to advance Tezos DeFi ecosystem
Plenty is thrilled to open up the applications for its FIRST ever hackathon in collaboration with Tezos India. For the next two months Plenty Hackathon 1.0, one of the largest Tezos hackathons to date, will take place with over USD 30,000 of prizes.
DeFi on Tezos is growing and projects like Plenty are leading the charge. The Plenty Global Hackathon encourages and enables developers to build new and innovative ideas to further advance the ecosystem.
This hackathon is open to ALL — students, developers, entrepreneurs, product folks, and crypto enthusiasts. This is your one-size-fits-all moment to enter the world of blockchain.
All you need is a flair for coding and an eye for good code — this is the right time and place for you! We recommend a team of 2–4 exceptionally motivated and passionate #inforthetech developers and entrepreneurs. Applying solo is possible, we will help you find your team!
Sustainable Decentralized Finance
The theme for the Plenty Global Hackathon 1.0 is Sustainable DeFi.
Tezos is a Proof-of-Stake blockchain that consumes over two million times less energy than Proof of Work networks like Bitcoin or Ethereum. The low carbon footprint of Tezos means developers and users can prioritize innovation without compromising sustainability.
The hackathon aims to bring together brilliance from all around the world to ideate and build more solutions on top of the existing Plenty protocol. Use the existing Plenty smart contracts and scripts to increase the sustainability of the Plenty protocol.
What is the Plenty Global Hackathon?
This global hackathon invites developers from all walks of life to come and participate in a two month-long event. Challenge yourself and help expand the Plenty protocol with your own idea, or based on a wide variety of use cases: a Plenty IDO Launchpad, Widgets, a Plenty Developer SDK, Bots, NFTs, Farm Auctions, UI/UX enhancements for plenty & Ctez, Flat AMM curve implementation. This is your chance to prove your worth, make a difference, and help lift Tezos DeFi to the next level!
The Hackathon is divided into two phases — the ideation phase and implementation phase. During the ideation phase, participants can create a proposal for an idea according to the theme. We plan to reward three best ideas submitted during the ideation phase.
Idea owners can then collaborate with interested developers/designers , re-organize their teams and implement the same during the implementation phase.
We have partnered with Gather Town to provide a real-time experience to all participants. The idea is to do more than just CODE!
The Plenty Global Hackathon is organized by Plenty in partnership with Tezos India. It is a call to action to tackle the challenges in Tezos DeFi. With growing the capacity of the developer community on Tezos a ‘Sustainable DeFi Future’ — building use cases for Tezos defi ecosystem, becomes a lot easier.
TIMELINE:
The tentative schedule of Plenty Global Hackathon is listed below:
- Application open: 20th November, 2021
- Applications close: 12th December, 2021
- Kick-off event: 13th December, 2021
- Workshops: 14th December, 2021–29th December, 2021
- Ideas Submission: 2nd January 2022
- Final Project Submission: 10th February 2022
- Result Announcement and Pitch Day: 19th February, 2022
Problem Statements / Use Cases:
We challenge participants to co-create new or improvised solutions for the existing Plenty ecosystem under these broad categories:
1. Plenty IDO Launchpad — Similar to MISO. A launchpad for both technical and non-technical project founders, that will allow communities and projects access to all the options they need for a secure and successful deployment to the Plenty exchange.
2. Widgets — Similar to the Polygon Widget Dashboard. A web-based widget creator for swapping, liquidity functionality, and farming. Widgets enable dApp developers to focus on their own product and quickly integrate the plenty protocol in to their own dApp in the form of a widget.

3. Plenty Developer SDK — An SDK with all the functionalities of the Plenty protocol. A Developer SDK can help developers build on top of Plenty. It should be designed to run in any environment that can execute JavaScript (think websites, node scripts, etc.). While simple enough to use in a hackathon project, it’s also robust enough to power production applications.

4. Bots — A notification bot which will send out stats on transactions, TVL etc. on Twitter, Discord & Telegram for events like — Any time someone buy more than 3000 plenty, when someone adds a good amount of liquidity(1000 plenty) etc.

An arbitrage bot that monitors price differences across different DEX’s (Plenty, ctez.app, Quipuswap etc..) and trades these differences for profit.
5. NFTs — Similar to botto. Generative / AI NFTs based on xPLENTY votes, put up for auction, earnings will be burned + a fraction goes to xPLENTY holders.
6. Farm Auction — similar to pancakeswap farm auctions. Projects can bid Plenty for the right to host a 7-day Farm on Plenty.
7. New UI/UX for Plenty implemented using typescript
8. Flat AMM curve implementation — Similar to Curve & Arthur’s Flat Curve.
9. Open DeFi track — Few verticals you could explore are lending & borrowing, meme coins, Decentralized reserve currency like Olympus etc.,
10. Content Marketing — Come up with unique ways of educating and promoting Plenty. Be it blogs, memes, twitter posts or video tutorials.

Our goal is to identify, encourage and facilitate ground-breaking work within blockchain vis-a-vis defi. Hence, this becomes your greatest chance to demonstrate your coding skills. We have set aside additional bounties for the following as well:
- The top 5 shortlisted projects have the opportunity to receive a follow-on grant of up to $10,000 each.
- Best 3 ideas submitted during the ideation phase will receive an additional $250 prize each.
