Tezos at IGDC!
The India Game Developer Conference (IGDC) is a convention for India’s premier game developers. It is possibly one of the largest and most significant developer conferences in all of South Asia, not just India.
Taking place in Hyderabad, the 3-day event featured industry heavyweights including Rockstar Games, Keywords Studios, Kwalee, SuperGaming, WinZO, Xigma Games, Games 24x7, GameEon Studios, Hitwicket, and more!
So here is how it all panned out!
With over 4000 attendees, the event’s energy and enthusiasm were highly contagious. It went on to show how gaming has become a grand spectacle in India.
The Indian market is the next significant market for gaming firms and investors across the world. The conference marked the attendance of several large gaming studios from India and abroad, and there has never been more interest in working with Indian developers.
It was a wonderful chance to interact with gaming community members, ranging from game studios to independent creators to gamers themselves. The conversations were not limited to just networking and exploring synergies but also about their earliest gaming memories, their favorite games growing up, and their journeys in the gaming space.
Unpacking Web3 Gaming
Tezos’s head of gaming, Jeremy Foo, flew in from Singapore to take part in the event. He talked about practical use cases of the blockchain, from a AAA game developer’s perspective. Sharing the stage alongside executives of the leading gaming studios, he also touched on Metaverse and gaming and how brands could leverage this opportunity effectively.
Om Malviya, Tezos India’s president, also inaugurated the official launch of Tanhaji, a 3-D battle RPG game on the App Store. The game, which already has 100,000 downloads on the Play Store, is one of the many games integrated with Tezos!
“ It was great seeing the high quality of talent and teams in the Gaming industry at IGDC. Tezos has been focusing on helping games scale faster in Web3 and we were overwhelmed with the response from gaming studios for blockchain gaming. Excited to see the innovations being out there” said Amanjot Malhotra, who leads the growth initiative for Tezos India.
Spin the wheel does rounds!
To make the event exciting for the attendees, Tezos organised a variety of activities, like a spin-the-wheel competition. Participants received delightful rewards, including USDT tokens, exclusive Tezos project NFTs, and some really cool Tezos merchandise. The campaign received more than 1100 impressions during the three days. Clearly, people loved it!
Fans meet Team Vitality!
Given eSports’ increasing popularity, Tezos also flew in Team Vitality, one of the biggest eSports teams and one of the many partners, to make it even more engaging for the gamers. Fans were given an opportunity to interact with their favourite gamers, like Xyaa and Rachit Roo, among others.
Closing thoughts
This IGDC provided Tezos with strong confirmation that Web3 gaming is the next step in the gaming industry’s future. Gaming studios and individual game developers are now increasingly looking to build on blockchain.
The Tezos India Game Launchpad, which is a gaming incubation program allowing developers to build on Tezos, also generated a lot of interest. Blockchain gaming is now the way forward, with obvious benefits such as games becoming global from day one for game developers to play to earn incentives and asset ownership for gamers.
Sharing her views on the event, Poorvi Sachar, Operations Lead at Tezos India said, “IGDC acted as a great platform to showcase the fullest potential of new-age gaming and games development via blockchain and web3 tools. With a great audience turnout, the energy displayed at this event was eclectic and very encouraging for the industry to continue to grow and thrive.”
The Indian gaming industry, seen up close, provided many insights into what is happening, what the future may hold, the current challenges, and the tremendous prospects, and it is safe to say that the future looks bright!
