The Indian Tricolor

India is a country with 1.3 billion people. It is one of the fastest-growing economies and is known as an emerging technology hub around the world.

Currently there are 5 million+ people involved in blockchain and 20,000+ people are active blockchain developers. These are stats that some European countries can only dream of.

But the one aspect India is lacking, is the knowledge of blockchains outside Ethereum, Hyperledger Fabric and Corda. This is why we created the Tezos India Foundation (TIF). We want to boost the Tezos ecosystem in India and teach blockchain enthusiasts and developers about the unique qualities of Tezos.

Back from New York

We are back in India after traveling to the other side of the world for TQuorum. The Global Tezos Summit in New York was an amazing event to meet Tezos enthusiasts from so many different countries. For the TIF the Tezos Leadership Summit was particularly interesting. We exchanged ideas with ecosystem leaders from (almost) every region of the planet.

The First Events of the Tezos India Foundation

In September we have organized a two-day developer workshop at the Delhi Technological University and a community meetup in one of the most active startup areas surrounding Delhi.

6th September 2019 (Day-1)

The first day was all about explaining blockchain and the state of bitcoin. It was followed by a brief introduction of the Tezos India Foundation and prerequisites for the next day when students would interact with a Tezos node.

It was an open and interactive event, where a lot of questions were asked and answered. Around 80 students participated on the first day, filling the entire venue.

7th September 2019 (Day-2)

We started with an introduction to Tezos. After solving all the doubts of participants, everyone was instructed on the screen about how to install Tezos on the local machine and how to interact with it. Followed by a quick Michelson tutorial and a lesson about how coding and deploying of a smart contract on Tezos works.

Tezos T-shirts for everyone!

We ended the session by distributing Tezos T-shirts and explaining the road ahead for the participants and the Tezos India Foundation.

Soon after organizing a Tezos workshop we organized a community meetup with Inblox Network to educate people about the Tezos protocol.

The event was hosted at Cybercity in Gurgaon, home to a lot of corporations and startups.

The Next Chapter

For the remaining months of 2019 (as soon as Diwali is over) we will organize meetups in big tech cities in India, train more students at universities and help with the goal of training 1000 new Tezos developers in this year.

In the following weeks we have a big announcement lining up for blockchain developers in India, this will be shared on Twitter as soon as possible.
