A Place Of Appreciation

“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.”

Appreciation of others is such a beautiful gift. I am so thankful for all of the people I have met so far here on Medium. They have become dear friends and family to me during this past year.

I wanted to create a place of gratitude and positivity online. Thank You Notes is the place to thank life, the universe, and those who have helped you in your life.

Creating a publication is a new endeavor for me. Soon I will…

For your love, concern, and hope

For the past five or six years, I’ve often felt like I was living on an island. Being a follower of Jesus in the American South hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park during this time.

The Trump years and a global pandemic ended up destroying the trust and respect I had for my church. Years ago, our family had put down roots there. We planned on it being our home. What we thought was a moderately conservative vibe felt mostly insulated from the cultural wars found in much of white American evangelicalism. …

How To Find The Path Of Faith

“Having a dream is like having sunshine. Without it, you cannot see as clearly. With it, your world shines. Have a dream, and the light will fill your eyes with hope.”
J.R. Rim

Lately, it seems I have not allowed myself to go for my dreams. Old feelings of not being safe have come up in my mind.

These emotions surface when I am on the cusp of trying new things.

I just started a strength training program with a personal trainer this month. …

I am a better person because of you

Being pregnant has been the greatest blessing and gift I could have been given. I have been thankful and grateful each and every day, even when I was feeling sick, uncomfortable, tired, swollen, and achy all over. I know this is a gift that not everyone is given so I am enjoying and embracing each day.

This little girl has taught me so much already without even being born.

Unspoken communication is now present between her and me. She feels everything I feel whether it is happiness, sadness, stress, joy, excitement, love, pain, and everything in between. …

I am here too

Monday is the most dreaded of all,

By kids and adults alike,

Because it means getting back to office and school,

And continuing with the hustle of work and studies.

Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are everyone’s favorite days.

Because they indicate relaxing, lazying around,

No meeting deadlines and engaging in activities that bring happiness.

Thursday is a segway transitioning from the not-so-good towards the great part of the week.

Acting as the anchor where the dread falls out and the excitement begins.

The remaining two are the almost ignored and forgotten ones,

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are like a neglected lot…

You deserve more than just a thanks

I am writing since I was a kid. Writing is one of my favorite hobbies. I find myself in a good mental state when I write.

I wrote but I never had the guts to share my work with anyone. I had a deep fear inside that said what if someone judges me from my writing. I know every writer faces this fear in this life.

When I first started writing on Medium, it was hard for me to put my work in front of people. I am glad that I did it.

When I was writing by myself, I…

You have shown me how to love again

The other day, I wrote a story detailing how our new puppy has changed mine and my family's life, within months. It’s been truly miraculous.

Hence, on the back of that, I felt it would be rather appropriate to write my first story for Thank You Notes, expressing my gratitude to him.

Seven years ago, I fell in love with a man. Deeply fell in love with him. I didn’t actually know it was humanly possible to love someone that much, it was bordering on being frightening.

We were never to meant to be, not because our relationship didn’t work…

A practice that keeps me on the positive track

‘’Gratitude is not only greatest of all virtues but the parent of all other.’’

— Marcus Tullius Cecero

Just today, I was mentioning to my best friend that I have been feeling a little low for a few days. She knew that I have been over-stressed due to work pressure and asked me to slow down.

She suggested that I should write about all the good things I have with me at the moment. And it could be anything — living, or non-living.

I loved her idea and this story will be dedicated to everything I feel thankful for right…

Thank You Notes #16

Dear Readers and Writers,

I feel a deep appreciation for the time I recently spent on a family vacation in Las Vegas. When we spend time away from home, our focus is on rest, delicious food, and enjoying every moment together.

We spent three glorious hours focusing on a special dinner out.

Living simply at home has allowed us to save our money for once-in-a-lifetime meals like this one, an experience that is more valuable than diamonds for us.

In these moments, time slows down, flavors intensify, and our memory of each bite lasts forever.

Each morsel of food at…

When and why to encourage others

“The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” — Oscar Wilde

Encouraging others is a move for self-encouragement. As this world is small, and deeds do find their way back.

I’m in my early twenties and in your twenties, life is rocky. I have had enough awful days in these years. Whenever my life takes a turn, I’ve learned to hold on to some encouraging words. …
